OPERATION 12TH MAN PARTICIPATES IN G.I. FILM FESTIVAL
CSI: New York Actor Gary Sinise Hosts California Event for Members of Film Industry
WASHINGTON, DC; SEPTEMBER 28, 2009 – Members of Operation 12th Man, a Virginia-based organization supporting men and women in the military, participated in a September 26th GI Film Festival event in Simi Valley, California. The one-day event was held at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and featured nine documentary, narrative and film screenings. The day’s events culminated with a VIP reception for attendees hosted by CSI: New York star Gary Sinise. Attendees included members of the film industry, USO staff, filmmakers, members of Congress and the general public.
The GI Film Festival, a non-profit organization, is the first film festival in the nation to exclusively celebrate the successes and sacrifices of the American military through the medium of film. The week-long festival is held every May in Washington, DC.
The California event served as an opportunity for Operation 12th Man to introduce the organization to a broad range of individuals outside of the Washington, DC area.
Starting in October, Operation 12th Man’s Fall 2009 fundraiser will be offering 20,000 tickets and offer participants a 1 in 100 chance to receive 1 of 200 gifts – including a $150,000, cars, televisions, MP3 players and other cash gifts. More importantly, the organization will announce the award of a home to a deserving military family at the conclusion of the event. In addition, Operation 12th Man will make a contribution to four organizations supporting our troops. These include the GI Film Festival, United States of Hope, Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (T.A.P.S.) and the Student Veterans of America.
